The Location
The Atami Hotel is a luxury boutique hotel situated in one of the few secluded bays with spectacular natural beauty on the Bodrum peninsula. All rooms are en-suite, with a refrigerator, with a beautiful seaside view and sitting terrace.
The bay is perfect for sunbathing, swimming, windsurfing, canoeing and sailing. The natural beauty of Paradise Bay invites lots of time outdoors, enjoying the sea, the swimming pool, and just being - surrounded by beauty.
Spring and autumn in Bodrum are ideal - fresh fruits and vegetables are abundant and colourful in the local markets. Flowers are bursting out, the water temperature is perfect, and there are few “beach” tourists, which gives the surrounding seaside villages a peaceful feeling, with extremely friendly and courteous locals.
Flight & Travel Details
Fly into Milas-Bodrum airport. There are many discount charter airlines throughout Europe that fly into this airport. From there, one can take a taxi or shuttle service to the Atami Hotel, which is approximately €40-50.
Activities and excursions
Afternoons are free to explore the local area, including the lively Yalikavak market (only on Thursdays), where one can experience a true Turkish market. It is there where one can enjoy afternoon tea with Turkish cakes that are unbelievably tasty. From there, one can hop the local bus to Bodrum to enjoy a traditional Hamam.
Cuisine
The family at the Atami are Turkish/Japanese. The food is beautifully prepared, light, and very high quality. We will have the pleasure to enjoy a blend of Asian and Turkish cuisine.
Each retreat includes 2 meals a day - brunch and dinner. Meals are a tasty mix of Turkish and Asian food.
Yoga & General Programme
Arrival & departure days are just that. Arrival times range from 14:00-16:00. Arrival day entails a group orientation, usually at dinnertime. Departures are normally at 10:00.
Morning sessions (2 hours) offer an uplifting, invigorating practise, with emphasis on inversions, balancing poses & heart-opening. Every morning practise begins with a 45 minute Pranayama (breathing) and meditation session.
Evening sessions (1-1.5 hours) offer a quieter, restorative/therapeutic asana and pranayama practise. Asanas include twists, forward bends and hip-openers. There is the occasional chanting, and occasional group silence until dinner.
All sessions may include partner work.
You will see a mix of experienced yogis along with beginners at Susan’s retreats. Susan’s training background and therapeutic teaching style enables her to skillfully teach ALL LEVELS optimally. It is an honour for her to serve all attendees by connecting them with their own inner light, where great delight and awareness can be found.
Explore, Relax, Restore & Heal
This is your holiday to enjoy! Plenty of free time is given between yoga sessions to rest and restore, or explore the local scenery by foot or by car. All retreats offer quality holistic treatments at reasonable prices. There is one free day midweek for everyone to enjoy as they choose. Local group excursions can be organised for that day, directly with the venue.
Please note: For those who have attended a Kikuchi Yoga Holiday previously, or if one brings a friend along to a retreat for the first time, a €25 reduction is given with great gratitude from Susan!
